Job description

Join to apply for the Advanced Nurse Practitioner - Headache role at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced specialist headache nurse to lead the headache CNS team as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner.

The Headache service, within Neurology and Pain Management, diagnoses and treats complex headache disorders, chronic migraine, and facial pain conditions. It offers specialist clinics including general headache, TACS, facial pain, CSF pressure disorders, CGRP, Greater Occipital Nerve, Botox injections, and tertiary headache.

The successful candidate will work as a senior member of the multidisciplinary headache team, leading nurse specialist teams across the two headache services. This role is part of a broader transformation programme aimed at merging these services into a streamlined, patient-centred model of care.

The Advanced Nurse Practitioner for Headache is a registered nurse with specialist skills in assessing and treating patients, managing the clinical environment, and making autonomous clinical decisions in collaboration with neurologists and service managers.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Providing expert assessment and management of headache and migraine patients.

  3. Supporting education and research initiatives in headache management.
  4. Collaborating across departments to ensure seamless patient care.

Essential qualities include maintaining clinical excellence, evidence-based practice, and excellent communication skills. The role offers opportunities for professional development at local, national, and international levels.
