Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) to join our friendly and supportive team at Parish Fields Practice.

We are a well-established GP practice caring for approximately 8,150 patients in Diss, on the Norfolk/Suffolk border. We pride ourselves on providing high-quality, patient-centred care while creating a positive, respectful and supportive environment for our staff.

This is an opportunity to join a multidisciplinary team where you will have the autonomy to use your advanced clinical skills, while working alongside and supported by experienced clinicians across the practice.

We are looking for someone who enjoys the variety of general practice, is confident in their clinical decision-making and is passionate about providing excellent patient care.

Main duties of the job

As an ANP, you will assess & manage patients presenting to the practice, including those with acute, undifferentiated & long-term conditions.

You will be able to work autonomously within your scope of practice, using your advanced clinical skills to assess, diagnose, treat & refer patients appropriately.

Your role will include:

• Assessing & triaging patients, including same-day presentations.
• Taking comprehensive histories & undertaking appropriate clinical examinations.
• Assessing & managing undifferentiated & undiagnosed presentations.
• Diagnosing & treating a broad range of acute & chronic conditions.
• Prescribing safely within your scope of practice & in line with relevant national/local guidance.
• Recognising red flags & identifying patients who require escalation or onward referral.
• Completing episodes of care where appropriate, from initial assessment through to treatment, follow-up or referral.
• Working collaboratively with GPs & the wider MDT team.
• Supporting personalised care & shared decision-making with patients.
• Contributing to clinical development, quality improvement & service development within the practice.
• Supporting the education, development & clinical supervision of colleagues where appropriate.

Qualifications

Essential

• As this post is being recruited as an Advanced Practitioner Nurse through the Primary Care Network Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme (ARRS), applicants will need to meet the applicable NHS England/PCN requirements for the role.
• Current registration with the NMC.
• Independent prescribing qualification (V300 or equivalent).
• A masters degree level qualification in a relevant area of expertise.
• Evidence of working at masters level or equivalent across the four pillars of advanced practice: clinical practice, leadership and management, education and research.
• Evidence of recognised preparation and capability in advanced practice in accordance with the current NHS England/Centre for Advancing Practice requirements.
• The clinical knowledge, skills and experience required to undertake autonomous advanced clinical practice within general practice.
• For Advanced Practitioner Nurses, recognised routes may include completion of a Centre for Advancing Practice accredited MSc Advanced Practice programme or the supported ePortfolio route, as well as the recognised trainee pathways set out within the current PCN Network Contract DES.

Desirable

• We would particularly welcome applicants with experience in:
• General practice or primary care.
• Acute and minor illness assessment and management.
• Same-day assessment and triage.
• Clinical leadership.
• Audit, research or quality improvement.
• Supporting and developing other members of the clinical team.
• Working as an ANP/ACP within a multidisciplinary primary care team.
