The Building People, LLC, has a position open for an Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Engineer who will be our primary representative and a self-motivated resource for our team in our rapidly expanding connected infrastructure division. Our team, which already includes a nationwide presence in Master Systems Integration across the federal environment, has a number of opportunities to help build and expand an industrial/metering controls department. This position will necessarily join and help lead an innovative solution as part of our larger MSI team architecture. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Conduct site visits and assessments at client facilities to understand energy infrastructure and loads, locating and classifying utility meters (electric, gas, water, steam).
  • Participate in planning, logistics, and reporting functions with project team members.
  • Travel to multiple project sites within a region and maintain communication with stakeholders.
  • Review facility plans, asset inventories, and technical specifications to assess existing energy meters.
  • Provide recommendations for meter repairs, replacements, and new installations based on client requests or project needs.

Required Experience & Skills

  • Experience with building design and management of critical building systems.
  • Experience conducting site visits and assessments.
  • Experience assessing energy infrastructure, including metering systems.
  • Experience collaborating with clients, contractors, inspectors, and service providers.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to obtain a basic civilian security clearance.
  • 5+ years of related experience.

Additional Experience & Skills

  • Experience with building energy audits or facility assessments.
  • Knowledge of environmental, sustainability, and energy regulations and standards.
  • Experience with diverse project types and technologies.
  • Experience working with federal agencies like EPA, GSA, or DoD.
  • Ability to organize and facilitate technical meetings.
  • Effective team and independent work skills.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and project management skills.
