A position has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated advanced clinician in a friendly and progressive team. This post will be suitable for a nurse or podiatrist.
The advanced clinician will take high level responsibility for the triage, clinical assessment and diagnosis of the highly complex health and well-being needs within a defined sphere of practice. They will implement, evaluate and modify highly complex care/ interventions which they have developed to meet those needs. Leading their Podiatry Team on the management of patients with the most complex limb and life threatening needs, the post holder will lead on the development and implementation of service innovations within their portfolio as well as the development and dissemination of training to the team. Performance management will form an integral part of this role. This post provides opportunity for developing wound care, debridement, offloading and arterial assessment skills
A departmental visit is encouraged prior to interview.
1. Lead a team of podiatrists and podiatry assistants supporting the service lead in daily delivery of the service.
2. Providing leadership, promoting a culture of learning and improvement for colleagues and other agencies, leading service innovations and demonstrating high level problem solving.
3. Driving innovation, managing the change process to ensure services continues to be flexible and proactive to reflect the needs of the wider Health and Wellbeing community.
4. To be responsible for the escalation of patients presenting with complex conditions outside their scope of practice (expertise/knowledge/skills) to a more appropriate clinician or consultant.
5. To be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of your own work including the management of patients/service users in your care
6. To undertake self-directed/lone working in a variety of locations.
7. Manage clinical caseloads efficiently and effectively.
8. Where indicated and following completion of the relevant training the practitioner will act as a non-medical prescriber, at all times working within their sphere of clinical practice
We operatefrom three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, andUlverstonCommunity Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies,daycase and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
