Advanced Information Analyst

We have an exciting opportunityfor an experienced business intelligence analyst to join our central informatics team.

As part of the eHospital team the post holder will be responsible for the design and creation of reports for end users. The post holder will use a number of different tools such as SQL and QlikView to create reports which users can access via their desktop.

The successful candidate will have experience of running and managing projects. You will be responsible for planning and prioritising your own workload as well as supporting the wider team. You will liaise with staff around the organisation to identify their reporting requirements and optimisation needs.

Main duties of the job

The role will support Senior Team Leaders in developing the reporting function around Epic, optimising existing business intelligence dashboards as well as creating new ones. You will actively participate in new projects across the trust that requires reporting input.

As part of the wider Information Management Systems and Analytics team you may be required to help with cross-cover using skills in Excel or Access to create and produce data for submission or reporting.

Experience of working with Epic is required but we are also keen to see candidates with strong SQL and data visualisation skills. Candidates without current Epic certifications will be required to undertake online Epic training in the appropriate modules.

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience in a senior administrative role
  • Able to demonstrate advanced/expert computer skills, e.g. highly proficient, competent and efficient in a range of software applications.
  • ECDL Advanced/Expert or equivalent knowledge
Experience
  • Previous experience in NHS
  • Previous experience of working to tight deadlines or delivering to high performance standards
  • Previous experience of managing own /other's workload.
  • Previous experience in writing reports/queries in SQL and business intelligence software
  • Previous experience of working with a patient administration system
  • Experience of using analytical skills, including ability to analyse and present data
  • Experience of using QlikView to design files to display data in a number of formats.
  • Some leadership, teaching, training or project management experience (not necessarily gained in a work environment).
  • Experience of working within Epic especially knowledge of the Clarity database
  • Knowledge of the various reporting tools within Epic
  • Experience of using R or Python scripting languages
Knowledge
  • Understanding of importance of data within an NHS environment.
  • Knowledge of the workings of the NHS and health service issues such as Performance Targets.
  • A working knowledge of NHS Data Standards.
Skills
  • Highly numerate.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and confident to interact with all grades of staff.
  • Ability to identify data problems and deal with issues as they arise.
  • Must have an accurate and methodical approach to work with excellent attention to detail.
