A regional health service provider in Dundee is looking for an Advanced Healthcare Science Assistant to join their team. The ideal candidate will have an SVQ3 qualification and experience in handling samples. This role involves processing patient samples and working with a friendly team to deliver a first-class service. Opportunities for growth and development within the NHS are available.

A permanent Advanced Healthcare Science Assistant, Band 3 post has become available within the Genetic Service for an individual qualified to SVQ3 level as a minimum, preferably with a Higher in a science subject. Although previous laboratory experience is not essential, applicants must have experience of handling samples and/or reagents and be prepared to work with blood and tissue samples including fetal material. The positions would suit those wishing to start a career in Healthcare Science.
The successful applicants will work with other members of the Technical Team under the direction of Senior Practitioners and the Team Leader to process patient samples received through the Scottish Government Innovation Adoption (ANIA) CYP2C19 genotyping project using a defined set of laboratory and administrative procedures required by the Service. The successful applicants will handle patient samples and perform tasks that contribute to diagnostic reports and therefore must work in a careful and meticulous manner according to standard operating procedures.
The Regional Genetic Service is a large friendly team of Technical, Scientific and Clinical staff who provide a first-class service to patients and families from Tayside and NE Fife and elsewhere in Scotland. The Service offers modern, well equipped facilities situated within Ninewells Hospital. This is an excellent opportunity for applicants to start their career within the NHS or gain experience within a diagnostic Genetic Service.
