Job description

The Advanced Health Care Assistant (HCA) will offer nursing, phlebotomy, administrative, and general clinical assistance to the Sexual Health & HIV team.

The HCA will liaise closely with and report directly to the Lead Nurses for Sexual Health. The HCA will work under the direct supervision of a first-level registered nurse with guidelines and protocols.

Knowledge of HIV
  • Have appropriate knowledge of HIV, including treatment and management of the condition.
  • Promote a sensitive and caring approach to patients, visitors, and colleagues.
  • Ensure communications with patients and their relatives are supportive and informative, with due regard to confidentiality.
  • Refer significant clinical issues to the medical team.
Role Responsibilities
  • Be part of the sexual health care team, providing high-quality holistic care to clients accessing sexual health, contraceptive, and reproductive healthcare services.
  • Provide clinical and clerical support within the sexual health team.
