More detail about the role

In this role, you’ll be encouraged and supported to increase your skills and experience through extended roles and innovative autonomous working practices. You’ll deliver clinics at various locations, including in the acute and community settings. Depending on your previous professional experience, you may spend significant time working in an extended role supporting the orthoptic-led glaucoma service.

The glaucoma aspect of this role will involve working alongside nurse and orthoptic assistant colleagues to monitor and manage glaucoma patients. This role will support further development of the glaucoma service and the staff who provide this service.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be part of a team at the forefront of innovation and development in our services and our people
  • Support the core orthoptic service as an autonomous practitioner
  • Be responsible for service development
  • Train and supervise junior staff within the glaucoma monitoring service
  • Participate in regular glaucoma-led multidisciplinary team meetings
  • Be registered with the HCPC
  • Be willing to travel to community locations

Career development and progression

We offer extensive training and development opportunities, supporting clinical and leadership growth. You’ll be involved in clinical audits, governance sessions, journal clubs, departmental meetings, and relevant seminars.
