Job summary

Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an Advanced Practitioner to join the CAMHS Outreach Team in Gloucestershire. The role focuses on leadership in a multidisciplinary setting, complex caseload management, and advanced assessment for children and young people in crisis.

You will contribute to service development, provide expert clinical guidance, and support safe discharge planning within a 9am-9pm service model, with potential evening work and flexible patterns.

Qualifications

• Professional registration with the relevant body (NMC/HCPC/GPhC).
• MSc Advanced Practice and NHSE Digital Badge are desirable.
• Registered as an independent prescriber where applicable.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and motivated Advanced Practitioner (AP) to join our multi-disciplinary CAMHS Outreach Team in Gloucestershire.

The post holder will understand the challenges and opportunities of working with children and young people with significant safety concerns and their families.

About the team:

CAMHS Outreach is a countywide service in Gloucester providing a 9am-9pm service, 7 days a week, 365 days a year offering an intensive home treatment provision for children and young people under 18 years, experiencing a period of acute mental health crisis. Our service focuses on admission avoidance, through home treatment and safety planning. Following an admission, to an acute general hospital or a Tier 4 in-patient unit, we work to support a safe and timely discharge back to the community. We have a fantastic success rate supporting children and young people in their recovery at home ensuring they receive the support and treatment they need.

We have a strong commitment and passion for ensuring the voice of the child is central to all of our care planning and safety management.

Main duties of the job

As a Band 8a AP in the team the role would include:

• Leading clinical decision-making within a multidisciplinary team.
• Carries clinical responsibility for a complex caseload
• Physical health screening
• Providing advanced assessment and treatment planning
• provide specialist advice to colleagues across the multidisciplinary team.
• Prescribing medication where appropriate, and within the scope of practice as an Independent Non-Medical Prescriber.
• Monitor and improve standards through supervision, evidence-based practice, clinical audit, research and education.
• Contributes to service development, staff training, and integrated working across health, education and children social care partners.

The role would involve working 9am – 5 pm Monday-Friday and there maybe some occasional evening working.

We are open to considering alternative shift patterns provided they allow us to continue meeting the needs of the service.

Qualifications

• Professional registration with registered body e.g. NMC, HCPC, GPhC with significant post-registration experience relevant to role
• MSc Advanced Practice and NHSE Digital Badge
• Recognised teaching / supervisor or coaching qualification or relevant experience
• Skills of assessment, examination, diagnosis and treatment within an agreed scope of practice.
• Registered as an independent prescriber with the relevant registered body (NMC, HCPC, GPhC )
• Experience in working within a mental health setting and management of children and young mental health crisis

LENGTH AND / OR NATURE OF EXPERIENCE

• Significant post registration (the multi-professional framework for advanced clinical practice in England suggests 5 years) experience where autonomous working at an advanced level has been acquired in the speciality area or a related area where advanced skills could be transferable.
• Experience working in a community mental health acute crisis setting
• Experience of working within multi professional settings with consolidated clinical practice and contributing to effective team working

PROFESSIONAL / MANAGERIAL / SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE

• Experience of successfully leading clinical teams, and managing people
• Understand the impact of advanced practice roles on service delivery and their contribution to the multi professional team
• Experience of leading evidenced service improvement and innovation through service /practice development initiatives, audit or research.
• Knowledge of local and national healthcare agendas/strategy and policies and how they relate to the specific service
