Overview
The successful applicant will be an advanced specialist leading and providing safe, efficient and cost-effective clinical pharmacy services to patients diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust. The role supports high-quality pharmaceutical care for IBD patients and involves clinical assessment and treatment in scheduled outpatient clinics, using skills as a Pharmacist Independent Prescriber as required.
Responsibilities
- Lead and provide safe, efficient and cost-effective clinical pharmacy services for patients with inflammatory bowel disease.
- Clinically assess and treat IBD patients effectively in scheduled outpatient clinics according to the prescribed job plan, utilising Pharmacist Independent Prescriber skills as required.
- Contribute to the development of prescribing policies for groups of patients treated by clinical specialists (e.g., Shared Care Guidelines for care across primary/secondary care).
- Support the safe and cost-effective use of high-cost drug therapies within the field of inflammatory bowel disease.
- Horizon scan for upcoming novel therapeutics and proactively submit new drug applications to the Trust's Medicines Optimisation Group to support prompt access to new therapeutics.
- Engage with colleagues in the pharmaceutical industry to identify and gain access to commercial financial agreements and rebate schemes to ensure resources are utilised effectively.
- Participate in the pharmacy department on-call and out-of-hours pharmacy services rota as required.
- Adhere to safeguarding policies; the Trust requires safeguarding of children, young people and vulnerable adults and promotes safeguarding by implementing policies and procedures and acting promptly on concerns.
- Be prepared to undergo an enhanced DBS check (cost described in the original posting) and join the DBS update service as a condition of employment.
- Familiarise yourself with the Trust secondment policy and obtain approval from your current line manager before applying for a secondment opportunity.
