Job summary

NHS Shetland invites applications for a Clinical Pharmacist (Acute and Specialist Services) based at Gilbert Bain Hospital. This substantive Band 8A post involves advanced clinical practice, leadership duties and contributions to service improvement across acute and specialist areas.

You will balance direct patient care with strategy, governance, education and quality improvement, working within a remote and rural healthcare network to deliver high‑quality pharmaceutical care for Shetland

Qualifications

• Must be registered as a Pharmacist Independent Prescriber with the GPhC.
• Significant post-registration clinical pharmacy experience within acute hospital services.
• Working towards, or having completed, RCPharm Core Advanced Pharmacist Curriculum accreditation, with expected completion within two years of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Approximately 60% direct patient care across inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Remaining 40% dedicated to service improvement, medicines governance, education, audit, pathway development and quality improvement.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, effective and sustainable use of medicines.
