Job summary

NHS Shetland seeks an experienced Clinical Pharmacist (Acute and Specialist Services) to join the Gilbert Bain Hospital team in Lerwick. This substantive Band 8A role offers advanced clinical practice with opportunities in leadership, governance, and quality improvement.

The post involves about 60% direct patient care across inpatient and outpatient settings, with 40% dedicated to service development and cross-disciplinary collaboration to improve patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Registered Pharmacist Independent Prescriber with GPhC.
• Significant post-registration clinical pharmacy experience in acute hospital settings.
• Working towards or completed RCPharm Core Advanced Pharmacist Curriculum accreditation.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced clinical pharmacy practice within Acute and Specialist Services.
• Lead in medicines governance, education and quality improvement initiatives.
• Support service development and clinical leadership across a remote, rural setting.
• Participate in on-call rota and take part in multi-disciplinary patient care.
