An exciting opportunity exists for an individual to apply for the above post.


The post holder will work in partnership with the existing multi-disciplinary integrated team to deliver and provide specialist knowledge within the Integrated Pain Service.


Working as a team across three hospital sites, you will provide highly specialist guidance for patients presenting with complex pain as a result of trauma, post-surgical, complex acute-on-chronic pain and chronic pain presentations. You will provide leadership and management to the pain specialist nursing team while also providing multi-disciplinary education and training, contribute to the production of clinical guidelines and protocols, and adopt a collaborative approach to promote pain management throughout primary and secondary care. The post holder will be integral to developing and implementing an Integrated Pain Service throughout NHS Tayside.


An individual is required who is confident to use their own initiative with exceptional organisational skills. You will be confident to work autonomously whilst also able to contribute to a team approach. Applicants will demonstrate evidence of continuous professional development within the field of pain management, including evidence of teaching in a clinical environment, leading on audit and quality improvement. Candidates should be qualified to degree level with extensive post-registration experience, relevant pain experience or a relevant post, and hold a non-medical prescribing qualification.


Candidates who do not meet the advanced clinical nurse specialist job specification are welcome to apply for the trainee role and will be fully supported to undertake the required education and supervised practice to develop the competencies to work as an advanced clinical nurse specialist. Annex 21 Para 2 (i) of the agenda for changes terms and conditions will apply until successful completion of the clinical nurse specialist training programme.
