Job description
Overview

The successful applicant will be able to work with laboratory equipment and processes across the Blood Sciences disciplines (Biochemistry, Haematology, Blood Transfusion and Central Pathology Reception) whilst being primarily based within Central Reception. Whilst full training will be provided, proven experience of working in a diagnostic pathology department and knowledge across a range of laboratory procedures will be advantageous. The successful candidates will be expected to participate in the 24hr shift system after suitable training. Continuous professional development (CPD) will be encouraged.

Responsibilities
  • The candidate will be primarily working within Central Reception handling the receipt, labeling and booking in of multi-discipline samples.
  • This post will offer successful applicants the opportunity to support the Trusts out of hours Blood Sciences testing, coupled with other duties including preparing samples for analysis, inputting patient data and dealing with enquiries within Pathology specimen reception.
  • This is a pan pathology post which is a new and innovative approach to delivering patient focused quality care.
  • Successful candidates will be required to undergo training and provide a service at any of the Trust sites.
  • Candidates will be required to work early, late and night shifts over a seven day roster including Bank Holidays once fully trained and competent. The weekend and night duties will be paid at an enhanced rate.
