A leading NHS organization is seeking an experienced Advanced HPC Registered Biomedical Scientist based in Salford. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a high-quality Clinical Pathology service, providing training and quality management expertise, and ensuring departmental objectives are met. This role involves staff training, quality oversight, and advanced technical activities in the Cellular Pathology department, which processes thousands of histology requests annually.
The post holder will act as an experienced Advanced HPC Registered Biomedical Scientist to provide a continuous and comprehensive Pathology service, aiding effective diagnosis and treatment of patients. They will assist in delivering a high-quality, cost-effective clinical service and support the development of the service in line with departmental objectives.
The post holder will provide training and quality management expertise in Cellular Pathology to the NCA, working flexibly across NCA sites. They will have particular responsibility for training (staff competencies, registration, and specialist portfolio candidates) and quality management. The post holder will be a member of the senior laboratory team, ensuring good governance and supporting the quality management system.
The Cellular Pathology service for NCA comprises two departments: Salford and Oldham. You will be mainly based at the Salford department but will support quality and training across the NCA.
The Cellular Pathology Department within the NCA processes and reports 98,000 histology requests per annum, covering Neurology, Dermatology, Breast, Head and Neck, Gynae, GI, Urology, and Respiratory specialties. The post involves managing and coordinating the day-to-day activities for staff training and overseeing the department's quality management system.
