Job summary

A leading healthcare organization in Manchester is seeking an Advanced Biomedical Scientist to join their Histopathology team. The candidate will develop competency in tissue dissection and support the management of laboratory staff. Successful candidates will possess the IBMS Diploma of Expert Practice and be HCPC registered. This role is critical in ensuring high service delivery and quality standards within a busy department.

Qualifications

  • Completed IBMS Diploma of Expert Practice in Histological Dissection.
  • HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and develop competency in tissue dissection of category A – C specimens.
  • Completion of personal and work related audits evidencing competence to practice in line with ISO 15189 and RCPath standards.
  • Support Advanced Biomedical Scientists with day to day management.
Job description
Band 7 Advanced Biomedical Scientist - Tissue Dissection (Annex 21)

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly skilled HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist to join our friendly Histopathology team based at Manchester Royal Infirmary. The Histopathology department processes approximately 35,000 specimens annually and is a large tertiary gynaecology and gastrointestinal site.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and develop competency in tissue dissection of category A – C specimens.
  • Completion of personal and work related audits evidencing competence to practice in line with ISO 15189 and RCPath standards.
  • Support the Advanced Biomedical Scientists within the department with the day to day management of laboratory staff ensuring service delivery.
Qualifications
  • Band 7 candidates must have completed the IBMS Diploma of Expert Practice in Histological Dissection. Candidates working towards gaining the qualification will be considered for appointment at Band 7 Annex 21 position.
  • HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist.
