Job Description
We are looking for an Advanced Biomedical Scientist to join our Histology team at HCA Laboratories, based in Shropshire House, London. The successful candidate will have extensive experience working in Histology.
HCA Laboratories has over 35 years of experience providing pathology services, covering all disciplines in pathology including histopathology and cytology.
What you'll be doing:
- Practice as an HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist and maintain registration.
- Follow HCA Labs standing policies and procedures to ensure efficient laboratory service delivery.
- Comply with the code of practice of the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) and HCPC and work consistently to ISO and UKAS accreditation.
- Carry out unsupervised routine and complex investigations and analysis of tissue using specialized laboratory equipment.
- Be responsible for delegated tasks involved in the day-to-day organization and delivery of a clinical pathology service with high standards of patient care.
- Assist with the teaching of new staff where appropriate.
- Cooperate with supervisory staff and Pathologists in the introduction and development of new techniques.
- Maintain good work relationships with all staff and promote effective teamwork.
- Assist the BMS3 and liaise with Service Lead in the management of the Histopathology Department.
- Assist the Service Lead/BMS3 in managing space and equipment allocated to the department.
- Assist with the establishment and development of departmental policies and procedures.
- Assist Service Lead/BMS3 in formulating departmental strategies for training and development of non-medical staff.
- Assist Service Lead/BMS3 in developing and maintaining contingency plans for the department.
What you'll bring:
- Degree in Biomedical Science or similar.
- MSc desirable.
- HCPC Registered.
- Experience in a Histology lab.
- Member of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences.
- Fellow of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences is desirable.
