Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a motivated Lead Biomedical Scientist to head the Immunohistochemistry (IHC) section. You will oversee day-to-day operations, drive quality, and develop new protocols to maintain high standards of patient care.

You will lead and mentor Biomedical Scientists and Associate Practitioners, troubleshoot assays, validate antibodies, and ensure compliance with ISO 15189:2022 and health and safety regulations, while supporting service improvements.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a biomedical science team in a clinical laboratory.
• Strong background in Immunohistochemistry (IHC) testing and protocol development.
• Ability to conduct antibody validation and troubleshooting.
• Commitment to quality systems and audits (e.g., ISO 15189).

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Lead Biomedical Scientist to head our Immunohistochemistry (IHC) section. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in IHC and a passion for innovation and quality in laboratory services. This leadership role involves managing the day-today operations of the IHC section, developing new protocols, troubleshooting, training staff, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. Oversee and manage the daily operations of the IHC section to maintain high-quality standards.

• Lead and mentor a team of Biomedical Scientists (BMS) and Associate Practitioners (AP) in IHC-related processes.
• Troubleshoot IHC testing and validate new and existing antibodies.
• Develop and implement new techniques, processes, and technologies related to IHC.
• Participate actively in quality management activities, including audits, data analysis, and service quality improvements.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and maintain equipment according to protocols.
• Actively participate in quality management activities, including audits, service quality improvements, and compliance with ISO 15189:2022 standards.
