Job summary

A leading managed services provider in the automotive industry is seeking an Advanced Battery Materials Technician in Coventry to conduct materials testing and support electrification goals in their laboratory. Candidates should have a strong attention to detail, proficiency in measurement tools, and preferably an NVQ3 or equivalent experience in a relevant subject. The role offers immediate start and hourly pay of £22.

Qualifications

Advanced Battery Materials Technician

Location: Coventry

Immediate start available.

Contract position

Rate: 22 per hour

E-ppl is a leading provider of Managed Services within the automotive industry, supporting major Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) with their vehicle projects both in the UK and overseas. We are a specialist contractor who OEMs rely on for expert support.

We are currently seeking a highly skilled Technician to support our client, at their Advanced Battery Materials Laboratory (ABML). This laboratory is critical to electrification goals.

In this role, you will be part of a team providing materials testing and analysis of batterycells, The work is varied and requires a high level of precision and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Conduct physical teardowns of battery cells in a laboratory glovebox.
  • Make and measure physical and chemical samples accurately.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and facilities.
  • Record and transfer data accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Communicate results and observations to the team.
  • Follow all laboratory procedures and safety protocols, including COSHH.

Experience

  • Hand-fabrication skills and proficiency in using measurement tools.
  • Strong attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and good communication skills.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and a passion for precision.
  • Knowledge of Risk Assessments, COSHH, and SDS.
  • Basic computer skills, including Excel and/or PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of laboratory techniques and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently with strong organizational skills.
  • Resilient, enthusiastic, and able to deliver results under pressure.
  • An interest in science and the automotive electrification revolution.
  • Apprenticeship or NVQ3 in a science or engineering subject, or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • Good understanding of basic Chemistry principles (GCSE level).
