Job description

Job Title: Team Manager – ARCH Hospital Discharge Team
Location: Stepping Hill Hospital & Regent House, Stockport
Employer: Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council (SMBC)
Start Date: Required by 23rd June 2025
Hours: 8:30am – 5:00pm, Monday to Friday
On-Site Requirement: Minimum 4 days per week
About the Role

Stockport MBC is seeking a strong, dynamic, and experienced Team Manager to lead the ARCH Hospital Discharge Team, primarily based at Stepping Hill Hospital with regular attendance at Regent House.

This leadership role within a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary hospital discharge environment requires proven experience in managing both qualified and unqualified staff, including social workers, ASYE, and apprenticeships. The successful candidate will oversee the safe and timely discharge of adults across various pathways.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a high-performing hospital discharge team
  • Supervise and support social workers, apprentices, and unqualified staff
  • Oversee safe discharge planning aligned with legal frameworks and best practices
  • Collaborate with health partners (ICB, NHS), third-sector organizations, and internal stakeholders
  • Attend and chair safeguarding meetings, MDTs, and Court of Protection (CoP) matters
  • Maintain effective patient flow while supporting staff wellbeing and performance
  • Possess a Social Work qualification and Social Work England registration
  • Have at least 3 years’ experience as a team manager or in a similar senior role
  • Extensive knowledge of the Care Act, Safeguarding, MCA, and Best Interests Meetings (BIM)
  • Proven ability to manage high caseloads and staff in a high-pressure hospital environment
  • Strong multi-agency working skills and experience leading professional meetings
  • Hold a full UK driver’s licence
  • Able to work at least 4 days per week on-site
