Job description

Job Opportunity: Mental Health Social Worker (Long Term Temporary)

Please note: This is a Long Term Temporary post starting ASAP.

The successful candidate will:

  1. Attend ward reviews as part of mental health multi-disciplinary teams in adult and older persons wards.
  2. Complete assessments of need under the Care Act and develop strengths-based support plans.
  3. Play a key role in developing and leading discharge plans.
  4. Complete Mental Capacity Assessments and make Best Interest decisions when required.
  5. Engage in partnership working with health services, housing, children’s services, etc.
  6. Possess strong communication skills and a robust understanding of the Care Act 2014, the Mental Capacity Act 2005, and the Mental Health Act 1983.
  7. Participate in section 117 discharge planning meetings and Social Circumstance Reports for mental health tribunals.
  8. Conduct section 42 safeguarding enquiries when necessary.

The team covers Merseycare wards across the region, currently based in Broadoak Unit, Liverpool.

Essential Criteria:
  • Degree in Social Work
  • SWE Registration
  • Right to work within the UK

Additional Requirements:

  • A professional qualification in social work
  • Social Work England registration
  • Enhanced DBS/Update service
  • References covering the last 5 years of employment
