Job description

About the Role

Social work is at the heart of social and community innovations in mental health services in Trafford. An exciting opportunity has arisen, and we currently have a vacancy within the South Community Mental Health Team in Trafford.

In this social work role, the expectation is that you will support individuals to lead fulfilling lives and reach their potential for independent living. You will work holistically with the person and their social network, helping to strengthen and build sustainable families and social capital.

On a daily basis, you will work within a multi-disciplinary team, managing a caseload of individuals with severe mental health problems. Your work will be within a Care Program Approach, underpinned by the social model of disability, utilizing a strengths-based approach, and fulfilling statutory duties as per the Care Act 2014 and other relevant legislation (such as the HRA 1998, MHA 1983, MCA 2005). The role also aligns with the mental health recovery model.

About You

We are seeking Social Workers/AMHPs who demonstrate warmth, empathy, and genuineness within a multi-disciplinary team and possess a strong social work identity.

You should be driven, passionate about making a difference, and committed to working within a human rights framework to promote social justice and equal opportunities for people with mental health problems.

Excellent communication, listening, and interpersonal skills are essential. You should use professional curiosity and inquisitive enquiry in every contact to promote person-centred outcomes and wellbeing.

A good knowledge base of ethical and legal literacy is required, along with a commitment to continuous learning and improvement to ensure effective outcomes.

You should value and respect others' contributions, be able to challenge professionally when necessary, and adopt a solutions-focused, 'can-do' approach within a specialist service area. This is crucial to improve outcomes for adults experiencing poor mental health and to support their families within a 'think family' approach.

Underpinned by your social work values and ethics, you should demonstrate knowledge of enablement services aimed at preventing, reducing, and delaying crises, and support risk enablement and positive risk-taking while mitigating preventable harm, using your legal and statutory knowledge.

You need to take ownership of your actions, strive for first-time right delivery, and be reflective, applying learning when things go wrong. Creativity in strengths-based practice and innovation to resolve issues and improve your methods is also important.

The following are essential criteria:

  • Degree in Social Work
  • SWE Registration
  • Right to work within the UK

Please note: This is a Long Term Temporary post to start ASAP.
