Social work is at the heart of social and community innovations in mental health service in Trafford. An exciting opportunity has arisen, and we currently have a social work vacancy within the South Community Mental Health Team in Trafford.
Within this social work role, the expectation will be that you support people to lead fulfilling lives and reach their potential to live as independently as possible. You will work holistically with the person and their social network, helping to strengthen and build sustainable families and social capital.
On a day-to-day basis, you will work in a multidisciplinary team, carrying a caseload of individuals with severe mental health problems. You will work within a Care Program Approach, underpinned by the social model of disability, a strengths-based approach, and deliver statutory duties as per the Care Act 2014 and other applicable legislation such as the HRA 1998, MHA 1983, and MCA 2005. You will also work within the mental health recovery model.
We are looking to recruit Social Workers/AMHPs who can work with warmth, empathy, and genuineness within a multidisciplinary team, and who have a strong social work identity.
You should be a driven social worker with a passion to make a difference, working within a strong human rights framework to promote social justice and equal opportunities for people with mental health problems.
You will need excellent communication, listening, and interpersonal skills. Use your professional curiosity and inquisitive enquiry at every contact to promote person-centered outcomes and wellbeing.
Good knowledge of ethical and legal literacy is essential. You should be committed to continuous learning and improving your practice to ensure effective outcomes.
You should value and respect others’ contributions, be able to challenge professionally when needed, and work within a solutions-focused and proactive approach within a specialist service area. This is key to improving outcomes for adults experiencing poor mental health and supporting their families within a 'think family' approach.
Underpinned by your social work values and ethics, you should demonstrate knowledge of enablement services aimed at preventing, reducing, and delaying crises, and support risk enablement and positive risk-taking while mitigating preventable harm, using your legal and statutory knowledge.
You should take ownership of your actions, strive to get things right the first time, be reflective, and learn from your experiences. Creativity in strengths-based practice and innovation to resolve issues and improve your practice are highly valued.
