Job description

Adult Social Worker First Contact Team

Please be aware this is a long-term temporary post to start ASAP.

Essential criteria:

  • Degree in Social Work
  • SWE Registration
  • Right to work within the UK

Social Care Direct has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Social Worker to join our team – hybrid working, 3 days a week onsite.

Social Care Direct is the first point of contact for all new referrals to Wakefield Council. Your role would involve triaging these referrals, providing urgent responses, offering advice and information, and signposting. Responsibilities include triaging requests for social care assessments and safeguarding referrals. As a Senior Social Worker, you may also attend multi-agency meetings and lead initiatives and team developments. It is expected you will be a practicing Best Interest Assessor, AMHP, Practice Educator, or ASYE Assessor.

Most work is conducted over the phone, requiring excellent communication skills. The role is varied, suited for someone who enjoys a fast-paced environment and has strong time management and prioritization skills. The team does not hold cases and is ideal for social workers who prefer short-term and crisis intervention work.

The team provides cover until 7 pm on some evenings and from 9 am to 5 pm on weekends, so some out-of-hours work is expected. We offer flexible working arrangements and the opportunity to work from home regularly.

Must have:

  • A professional qualification in social work
  • Social Work England registration
  • Enhanced DBS/Update Service
  • References covering the last 5 years of employment
