Job summary

Devon County Council is recruiting an Adult Social Worker on a temporary ongoing contract through Service Care Solutions.

You will assess adults, undertake reviews, and contribute to CHC processes while applying the Mental Capacity Act. You will work with health, social care partners and multidisciplinary teams to safeguard and maximise independence and wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Registered social worker with Social Work England.
• Experience in Adult Social Care.
• Knowledge of Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, Mental Health Act and safeguarding.
• Ability to manage a varied caseload and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Complete complex Care Act assessments and reviews.
• Undertake risk assessments and care planning.
• Contribute to Continuing Healthcare (CHC) processes.
• Apply the Mental Capacity Act, including capacity assessments and Best Interest decisions.
• Lead safeguarding enquiries and investigations, including Court of Protection work when required.
• Maintain accurate and timely case records.
• Support service development and continuous improvement initiatives.

Job DescriptionAdult Social Worker - Devon County Council Service Care Solutions are recruiting for an Adult Social Worker to join Devon County Council on a temporary ongoing contract. Location: Devon Contract: 3-month ongoing contract with a view to extension Pay Rate: £35.00 per hour Umbrella (£27.48 PAYE Exclusive) Hours: Full-time About the Role You will work within Adult Social Care services, supporting adults using a strengths-based and person-centred approach to maximise independence, wellbeing, and choice. Key responsibilities include:Completing complex Care Act assessments and reviews. Undertaking risk assessments and care planning. Contributing to Continuing Healthcare (CHC) processes. Applying the Mental Capacity Act, including capacity assessments and Best Interest decisions. Identifying enablement and reablement opportunities. Leading safeguarding enquiries, including complex safeguarding investigations. Working closely with health professionals, voluntary organisations,
and multi-disciplinary teams. Undertaking Court of Protection work, including Deprivation of Liberty applications within the community where required. Maintaining accurate and timely case records. Supporting service development and continuous improvement initiatives.Requirements Social Work England registration. Experience within Adult Social Care. Strong knowledge of the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, Mental Health Act, and safeguarding legislation. Experience completing assessments, reviews, safeguarding enquiries, and support planning. Ability to manage a varied caseload and work independently. Excellent communication and partnership-working skills. Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.This role would be particularly suited to Social Workers with experience in Adult Community Teams, Safeguarding Teams, Locality Teams, Physical Disabilities, Older Persons, or Learning Disabilities services.
