Job summary

Devon County Council is seeking an Adult Social Worker to join their team on a temporary ongoing contract via Service Care Solutions. The role focuses on supporting adults using a strengths-based, person-centred approach to maximise independence, wellbeing and choice, in Devon.

You will conduct complex assessments, manage safeguarding cases, and work with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality care planning and service delivery. A driving licence and vehicle are required.

Qualifications

• Social Work England registration.
• Experience within Adult Social Care.
• Strong knowledge of the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, Mental Health Act, and safeguarding legislation.
• Experience completing assessments, reviews, safeguarding enquiries, and support planning.
• Ability to manage a varied caseload and work independently.
• Excellent communication and partnership-working skills.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
• Experience in Adult Community Teams, Safeguarding Teams, Locality Teams, Physical Disabilities, Older Persons, or Learning Disabilities services.

Responsibilities

• Completing complex Care Act assessments and reviews.
• Undertaking risk assessments and care planning.
• Contributing to Continuing Healthcare (CHC) processes.
• Applying the Mental Capacity Act, including capacity assessments and Best Interest decisions.
• Identifying enablement and reablement opportunities.
• Leading safeguarding enquiries, including complex safeguarding investigations.
• Working closely with health professionals, voluntary organisations, and multi-disciplinary teams.
• Undertaking Court of Protection work, including Deprivation of Liberty applications within the community where required.
• Maintaining accurate and timely case records.
• Supporting service development and continuous improvement initiatives.
