Adult’s Social Worker
Team: Intermediate Care
Location: Bury

Details:
The social work job will be within the Intermediate Care Tier based at Killelea House in Bury. We are a multidisciplinary team and we work jointly with therapists, nurses and care staff to have a home first approach to discharging people who have been through the service. As one of the social workers you will assess both in the bed based IMC and home based IMC and work along side our reablement colleagues. The job is for 12 weeks while we recruit to permanent positions.

• To provide a professional Social Work services to Adults customers across Adult Operations.

• To promote customers in maintaining choice and control of their lives.

• To manage a complex caseload, demonstrate expert and effective social work practice, assess and manage high levels of risk whilst striking a balance between support and control in order to protect people from harm.

• To chair a range of meetings i.e. Best Interests and Discharge Planning, offer expert support to case conferences, and produce high quality assessments and reports.

• Model good social work practice and start to take responsibility for the practice of others, mentoring newly qualified social workers and providing support and guidance to junior staff with management oversight.

• As an employee of Bury Council you have a responsibility for, and must be committed to, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and for ensuring that they are protected from harm.

  • DIPSW or equivalent qualification in Social Work
  • Social Work England registration

  • Excellent communication skills and be able to make good decisions based on information available.
  • Can work alone and within/contribute to a team/multi-agency set ups
  • Possess knowledge of service needs.
  • Competent IT skills and be able to navigate electronic file/recording systems.
  • Can write clear, concise, and robust assessment/reports/files.
  • Have a flexible approach to work and working hours when the need arises
