Adult Support and Protection - Adult Protection Officer / Quality Assurance
The post holder will be a member of the Adult Protection Unit team and contribute to the operational consistency of all adults at risk of harm in the Scottish Borders. This role will primarily focus on quality assurance and service development practice. It will involve supporting staff undertaking investigations and, at times, acting as a Council Officer under the Adult Support & Protection (Scotland) Act 2007.
Furthermore, the APO role can include supporting the team to cover a range of functions, such as duty/intake work, leading inter-agency discussions with public protection partner agencies, and chairing statutory case conferences.
Applicants must be a qualified Social Worker, Nurse, or Occupational Therapist with at least one year of post-qualification experience in Adult Support and Protection Council Officer roles.
Adult Support & Protection services within Scottish Borders are delivered within a framework of inter-agency guidance developed in partnership with Scottish Borders Council, NHS Borders, and Lothian and Borders Police. An Joint Public Protection Committee has been established to provide high-level multi-agency oversight of policies and professional practice. The Adult Protection Unit complements this work by ensuring operational consistency and safety in managing decisions on risk and the threshold for statutory intervention. This post will contribute to the Adult Support & Protection service in the Scottish Borders within the framework outlined in the Adult Support & Protection (Scotland) Act 2007.
