Job Description:

Job overview

In response to the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) report “No One’s Listening,” Barts Health will pilot an urgent emergency care bypass model. We are seeking to appoint a Band 5 nurse as part of a team to work within this service.

The successful applicants will provide effective nursing care within a new service, working alongside the emergency department and the haemoglobinopathy service. The unit will provide triage, assessment, and care delivery to Sickle Cell patients presenting to the Royal London Hospital Emergency Department. The role requires enthusiasm, drive, organization, and a willingness to learn.

Main duties of the job

In conjunction with the haemoglobinopathies teams across Barts Health NHS Trust, the post holder will support the ongoing development and delivery of a high-quality sickle cell service across the Trust.
Barts Health NHS Trust has been designated as a Haemoglobinopathy Coordinating Centre for sickle cell disease, thalassaemia, and other rare inherited anaemias. The Royal London Hospital is the host site within the Trust, and this post, based at the Royal London, offers an exciting opportunity to join the team.
In response to the APPG report, the postholder will play an important role in managing patients with sickle cell disease requiring acute day case care. They will provide excellent customer care, including communicating with distressed and anxious patients and relatives with tact and empathy, maintaining the professional image of the Trust at all times.

You should be flexible, enthusiastic, passionate, and an excellent communicator. This role is ideal for anyone wishing to make a difference to patients' experience.
