In 2024, we proudly opened The Harborne Hospital in Birmingham – a state-of-the-art facility at the heart of the Midlands. As we establish and expand our Critical Care service line, we are looking for outstanding Resident Doctors to join our growing team.

About the Role

As a Resident Doctor in Adult Critical Care, you’ll work closely with leading Consultants, providing continuous, high-quality care to patients with a wide range of complex medical needs. This role is ideal for doctors with experience in Intensive Care Medicine, Anaesthetics, and/or Critical Care, looking for a more structured, elective-focused environment with manageable patient volumes.

You’ll have the autonomy to assess and manage critically ill patients within your competencies, always supported by an expert Consultant team. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering care in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
  • Managing acute and complex airway cases
  • Supporting wider hospital outreach and emergency response
  • Contributing to ongoing service development during this exciting growth phase

We offer various rota options to support your other commitments, whether clinical, academic, or personal:

  • 1 x 12-hour shift per week
  • 1 x 24-hour shift per week
  • Block shifts: 4–5 shifts in a rolling 4-week cycle

What You’ll Need Essential:

  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
  • GMC registration with a valid UK licence to practise
  • Demonstrated training in Intensive Care, Critical Care, and/or Anaesthesia

Desirable:

  • MRCP, FRCA, and/or MRCEM qualifications
