Job summary

Westmorland and Furness Council offers an Apprenticeship in Adult Social Care, placing you on a frontline team that helps adults with care and support needs achieve personal goals and live as independently and safely as possible with choice and control. You will study for a nationally recognised Level 2 or Level 3 qualification while working, under mentors from Social Work and Occupational Therapy.

An enhanced DBS check with Adults Barred List is required, and you will have access to on-the-job

Qualifications

• Level 2: no formal qualifications required.
• Level 2: good standard of English, Maths and ICT.
• Level 3: five GCSEs at grade C/4 or above including Maths and English Language, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Support adults with care and support needs to achieve their personal goals.
• Help adults live independently and safely with control and choice.
• Apply person-centred care, human rights and strengths-based approaches in daily work.
• Work alongside experienced frontline staff and mentors.
• Spend time with Social Work and Occupational Therapy teams to explore longer-term career options.
• Complete on-the-job learning and the apprenticeship qualification.
