Job summary

Leaders In Care is supporting an established neurodevelopmental service in the West Midlands to recruit an Adult Autism Assessor and Reviewer. The role offers hybrid working and flexibility for either full-time or part-time arrangements within a clinician-led MDT setting.

You will conduct structured assessments, review developmental history and functional impact, and contribute to risk assessments, with senior oversight from a Consultant Psychiatrist and Clinical Lead.

Qualifications

• Recent UK adult autism assessment experience.
• Professional registration with NMC/GPhC/GMC/HCPC as applicable.
• Knowledge of ADOS-2-informed practice, safeguarding and risk management.
• Strong written communication and ability to manage a clinical caseload.

Responsibilities

• Carry out structured autism assessments and review developmental history, functional impact, co-occurring needs and risk.
• Present complex cases to MDT for discussion and decision-making.
• Contribute to audit, quality improvement and pathway development within a multidisciplinary team.
• Support induction and teaching for other clinicians.

Adult Autism Assessor and Reviewer £46,148-£55,504 FTE | West Midlands | Hybrid | Full-time or part-time

If you are experienced in adult autism assessment and want a role where there is proper clinical oversight, MDT input and time to make considered diagnostic decisions, this is worth a look.

You will join an established, clinician-led neurodevelopmental service delivering adult autism assessments through a multidisciplinary model, alongside wider ADHD and CYP pathways.

The role is focused on good diagnostic practice rather than simply increasing assessment volume. You will have responsibility for structured assessments, reviewing developmental history, functional impact, co-occurring needs and risk, before bringing more complex cases into MDT discussion.

There is senior clinical oversight from a Consultant Psychiatrist and Clinical Lead, with support from colleagues across psychology, nursing, SALT, OT and the wider neurodevelopmental team.

Who they are looking for.

You will need recent UK adult autism assessment experience and an appropriate professional registration. The service can consider:

• NMC-registered Nurses.
• GPhC-registered Clinical Pharmacists with Independent Prescriber annotation.
• GMC-registered GPs.
• Other HCPC-registered clinicians with a mental health specialism.

You should also have a working knowledge of ADOS-2-informed practice, safeguarding and risk, alongside strong written communication and the ability to manage a clinical caseload effectively.
