Job description

Job Description: Adoption Social Worker - Adoption West, Yate

This role is based in Yate, United Kingdom, within the Recruitment & Assessment Team of Adoption West, a Regional Adoption Agency serving several councils. The agency offers services including recruitment of adopters, family finding, post-adoption support, and services to birth families and adopted adults.

Main Duties:

  • Recruiting, preparing, and assessing prospective adopters.
  • Linking and matching approved adopters with children.
  • Supporting adopters post-placement until the Adoption Order is granted.
  • Preparing reports for adoption panel and court.
  • Assessing and supporting Early Permanence carers.
  • Providing duty support across the region.
  • Assessing non-agency adopters (stepparent approvals).

Salary: £37,000 - £39,000 (pro rata)

Location: Flexible, with an office base in Bristol, Gloucester, or Trowbridge, and options for remote work. Applicants from Gloucestershire and Wiltshire are especially encouraged.

Contract: Limited term (6-12 months)

Requirements:

  • A Social Work Qualification (degree or equivalent) and registration with Social Work England.
  • Experience working as a Social Worker or in a student placement with children and families.
  • Understanding of trauma or abuse impacts on children and young people.
  • Ability to analyze complex information and work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience managing a caseload and working to deadlines.
  • Must be able to travel and have access to a vehicle.
