Job summary

Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust operates Pebble Lodge, a 10-bed adolescent mental health inpatient unit in Bournemouth. The Staff Nurse (RMN) post seeks both newly qualified and experienced nurses to care for young people aged 13 to 18 in acute mental illness, focusing on safety and wellbeing across 24-hour shifts on a full- or part-time basis.

Qualifications

• RMN qualification and current NMC registration.
• Experience of working with seriously mentally ill clients in acute phases.
• Understanding of ICPA and risk assessment.
• Knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983 and NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
• Written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to complete PMVA, Breakaway and manual handling training as required.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual care to young people on the unit under the integrated care programme approach.
• Take responsibility for the safety and wellbeing of young people on the unit.
• Help organise unit activities.
• Establish and develop liaison and communication with other disciplines, agencies, parents, carers and service users.
• Complete PMVA course, a condition of employment.
