East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for an Admissions Officer in the Vascular Surgery Unit at Colchester General Hospital. The role provides administrative support, manages waiting lists and admissions, and ensures bookings align with clinical prioritisation and government policy.

You will coordinate with Consultants and support teams to optimise bed usage and maintain efficient patient flow, delivering high-quality patient care within a busy NHS environment.

• Strong keyboard skills and a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office

Mansioni

• Admit patients according to clinical priority and ensure wait time order on PTLs
• Book patients on appropriate operating lists and manage bed usage
• Re-book cancelled day-of-surgery patients in line with government policy
• Monitor waiting lists daily and highlight issues to Consultants and Support Manager
• Be the first point of contact for patients regarding admission dates within clinical prioritisation

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Admissions Officer within the Vascular Surgery Unit at Colchester General Hospital. We are looking for a Admissions Officer to join the Vascular Surgery Department, you will provide consistent provision of comprehensive and efficient secretarial/ administrative support., Manage, in conjunction with the Consultant and the speciality, the waiting list and admissions to ensure that:

Key Responsibilities

• Patients are admitted in accordance with their clinical priority
• Routine patients are admitted strictly in wait time order, as listed, on Patient Target Lists (PTL)
• Ensure that patients are booked on to appropriate operating lists and that the lists are filled to an agreed profile,
• Due attention is paid to efficient utilisation of bed of surgery usage.
• Ensure all patients cancelled on the day of surgery - Patient Charter Cancellations - are re-booked in accordance with government policy.
• To check the waiting lists on Portal daily. Plan and maintain the waiting list, in accordance with Trust procedure, highlighting problems to the Consultant speciality and Support Manager, as appropriate.
• To be the first point of contact for patients seeking to agree their admission date and to offer admission dates that are strictly 'in turn' and in keeping with clinical prioritisation.
  You must possess excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills including excellent keyboard skills and a good working knowledge of Microsoft. You must have the ability to work under pressure with a flexible approach to workloads, delivering excellent patient care.
