Job description

The post holder will be responsible for the organisation and booking of theatre lists. This will include the management of theatre lists, answering queries from patients, GP's and hospital staff, and validation tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manage listing patients for surgery, booking operations, and answering patient queries by telephone.
  2. Organise theatre lists in accordance with the availability of medical staff, to ensure effective utilisation and management of theatre capacity.
  3. Undertake telephone calls/queries and booking of appointments as necessary.
  4. Assist with the smooth running of the Waiting List Department.
  5. Seek opportunities to develop the above services in accordance with the needs of the hospital.
  6. Be responsible for entering and updating accurate information on the Careflow and Bluespier systems, in a timely way.
  7. Maintain and manage Elective Waiting Lists to support effective patient management, within national RTT targets.
  8. Maintain and manage theatre appointments, in accordance with availability of medical staff.
  9. Communicate effectively, applying discretion and tact where necessary, with written, over the telephone and e-mail with patients, visitors, other trusts and external agencies.
  10. Adopt and ensure compliance with all relevant policies.
  11. Promote and support changes to working practices, to improve service delivery.
  12. Attend any relevant meetings, as directed by your line-manager.
  13. Undertake any other suitable task as agreed with the line-manager.
