Job description

This role works across the Undergraduate Admissions and Campus Events Teams in our Student Recruitment & Admissions Directorate. In this highly collaborative role, you will have a great opportunity in both teams to support our next generation of students.

About The Role

Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential to ensure a positive applicant experience and to work effectively across both teams. You will coordinate enquiries from prospective applicants, parents, and advisors.

You will:

  1. Develop specialist knowledge of the University, the applicant journey, and higher education opportunities.
  2. Support admissions selection activities, including fee status assessments.
  3. Act as the operational lead for supporting students requiring a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check for roles such as Student Ambassadors or relevant courses.
  4. Develop expert knowledge of DBS requirements and liaise with other university departments to ensure students hold valid DBS checks where necessary.
  5. Support the planning and delivery of campus events for prospective applicants, including application assessments, managing responses, and data analysis for evaluation reports. You will also assist in recruiting and supervising Student Ambassadors.

The Undergraduate Admissions and Campus Events Teams are part of a diverse department including outreach, widening access, learning partnerships, and postgraduate teams. You will have opportunities to develop broader understanding and experience across the department.

About You

With a background in administration and customer service, you will thrive in a dynamic environment where accuracy is crucial. You will also have:

  • Strong IT and administrative skills, including proficiency in email and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Effective communication skills, adaptable to supporting applicants, parents, academic staff, external organizations, and colleagues
  • Experience in a customer-focused environment
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, managing workloads according to priorities
Further Information

This is a full-time, permanent position working 36.5 hours per week. Some weekend work may be required during June-September for open days and key assessment periods, with limited flexibility for annual leave in August.
