Job summary

The Royal British Legion is recruiting an Admiral Nurse to provide specialist dementia care and support to families across West Sussex and West Surrey, in partnership with Dementia UK. The role is homebased (national) with travel for home visits and clinical support, aiming to improve quality of life for people living with dementia and their carers.

• Registration as an RMN or RGN
• Full clean UK driving licence
• At least 2 years’ post-registration experience supporting people affected by dementia
• Experience of working in community or outreach settings
• Strong understanding of person-centred and relationship-centred dementia care
• Ability to support carers through complex emotional and practical challenges

Are you passionate about supporting families and carers of people living with dementia? Do you have the skills and experience to provide compassionate, specialist support while empowering others to navigate the challenges of dementia care?

Join us as an Admiral Nurse, working in partnership with Dementia UK, and make a meaningful difference to the lives of those affected by dementia. This role will be supporting families across West Sussex and West Surrey.

As an Admiral Nurse, you will provide specialist dementia care and support to families, working closely with carers as they navigate the emotional, practical, and psychological impact of dementia.

Your role will focus on improving the quality of life for both people living with dementia and those who care for them. From pre-diagnosis and early stages through to more complex and advanced care needs, you will offer expert guidance, helping carers understand the condition, respond to changing behaviours, and manage the challenges that dementia brings.

You will play a key role in supporting carers through significant transitions—adjusting to diagnosis, coping with loss, and adapting to changing relationships—ensuring they feel supported, informed, and able to provide compassionate, person-centred care.

You will have:

• Registration as an RMN or RGN

This is a full time role working Monday to Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm. Regular travel within the West Sussex and West Surrey region is required, so we are ideally seeking someone based locally or nearby. You will provide a mix of face-to-face and remote support (approximately 60/40), alongside occasional travel to UK-wide hubs for training and collaboration.
