The Northern Care Alliance (NCA), in collaboration with Dementia UK, is looking to recruit a registered nurse (RNA, RNMH, RNLD) to join our developing Admiral Nurse Service. Admiral Nurses are specialist dementia nurses who work with, and support, people living with dementia and their families who have complex needs. You will use your expert knowledge and skills to deliver a range of therapeutic interventions to support our patients living with dementia and their families. Alongside holding a clinical caseload, you will promote delivery of evidence-based dementia care in the acute hospital, through education of, and in collaboration with, your NCA colleagues and other care providers.

As an Admiral Nurse at the NCA you will have protected time to access regular clinical supervision, and opportunities for continuing professional development, delivered by Dementia UK.
The service is operational Monday to Friday and the post holder will be predominantly based at Salford Royal Hospital. They will however work as part of an NCA wide dementia specialist service to support the continuous development of a positive care culture that improves the quality of relationship-centred dementia care and practice across the organisation. This will necessitate occasional travel to other sites within the NCA.
The post holder will provide professional and clinical leadership and mentorship, acting as a clinical role model on the delivery of evidence-based practice in dementia care within the NCA. They will provide specialist dementia support whilst considering the diverse and complex needs of patients, carers and the workforce, in a manner consistent to the persons, culture and background.
The post holder will be responsible for independently planning and organising work both on a day-to-day basis and longer term. This will include caseload management, training schedules, meetings and auditing activity, amongst others.
The post holder will be expected to triage referrals and respond appropriately, using their clinical judgement and the acute hospital Admiral Nurse model to support decision making.
The post holder will also support the development and facilitation of education and training sessions to NCA staff at all levels, to improve understanding of dementia and delirium in accordance with national skills frameworks for dementia training.
The service is operational Monday to Friday and the post holder will be predominantly based at Salford Royal Hospital, with occasional travel to other sites within the NCA.
