Job description

Are you an experienced nurse passionate about dementia care?

After a collaboration between Alzheimer’s Society, Dementia UK, and Norfolk and Suffolk Foundation Trust to deliver a specialist integrated dementia service, we are seeking an experienced, compassionate, and dynamic individual to join as Band 6 Admiral Nurses.

This role involves delivering evidence-based interventions to families affected by dementia with complex needs across Norfolk and Waveney.

The service covers Norfolk and Waveney and surrounding areas.

Employed by Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust, you will be supported by Dementia UK to maintain and develop your clinical expertise through supervision and professional development. You will join a national network of Admiral Nurses with opportunities for postgraduate courses and professional growth, guided by the Admiral Nurse Competency Framework.

Role

The primary purpose is to provide specialist dementia nursing expertise and support to those affected by dementia. Responsibilities include:

  1. Providing specialist nursing assessments, evidence-based interventions, practical advice, and emotional support to family carers and, where appropriate, people with dementia at all stages from diagnosis to bereavement.
  2. Offering expertise and guidance to professional colleagues, the public, and other agencies in supporting family and relationship-centred approaches and best practices in dementia care.
  3. Contributing to the development, evaluation, and audit of this specialist practice area and the Admiral Nursing service.
  4. Providing clinical advice, support, liaison, and education/training to staff and agencies as negotiated.
  5. Using the Admiral Nurse Competency Framework to develop personal practice.
  6. Participating in Dementia UK Clinical Supervision and Practice Development.

Please note, travel is required across Great Yarmouth, Waveney, and surrounding areas. A full UK driving licence and vehicle are necessary.

At NSFT, we pride ourselves on being a welcoming, talented, and supportive team that values sharing experiences and learning. We offer ongoing training and development in a thriving environment.
