Job description

The candidate is to provide general administration duties including Reception and the Central Booking Appointment Line. Knowledge and experience of using databases and data inputting is desirable, but training will be given. Experience in the use of IT packages including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Successful candidates should possess a good general education (GCSE’s grades A-C), excellent keyboard and word processing skills (ECDL/RSA2), and excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills. The ability to work under pressure, along with empathy and understanding when dealing with patients, is essential. It is also required to hold a current driving licence and have access to a vehicle.

This is a full-time position (part-time hours may be considered). The service operates Monday to Saturday, and you may be required to work between 7 am and 7 pm depending on the needs of the service.

Job Responsibilities:
  1. Provide comprehensive administrative, IT, and clerical support for all staff within the Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, Integrated Sexual Health Service.
  2. Work flexibly within a team, supporting colleagues and the multidisciplinary team, and providing cover for other administrative staff when required.
  3. Present a user-friendly and accessible service for the public.
  4. Handle reception and telephone enquiries effectively and efficiently.

We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck, and Hexham, along with smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed. We also operate the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, the first of its kind in England.
