Job description
Overview

Administrator & Events Co-ordinator at Birkbeck, University of London, School of Social Sciences, on a four-year fixed-term contract this Autumn. Part-time (17.5 hours per week).

Salary

£17,414 rising to £19,491 per year. 0.5 FTE pro-rated (34,827 - 38,981 per year).

Contract and Working Pattern

Fixed-term, over 4 years (January 2026 to April 2030), part-time 0.5 FTE (17.5 hours per week), hybrid or remote offered with occasional travel to support meetings at university campuses in Sussex, Bristol and Manchester, and to support public engagement events around the UK.

Role and Responsibilities
  • Provide proactive administration for the project’s six research work-packages and administrative support for the Principal Investigator (based at Birkbeck) and Co-Investigators at other UK institutions.
  • Lead on events coordination and production for the project’s extensive events and public engagement programme.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Excellent administrative skills and experience, preferably within Higher Education.
  • Experience coordinating and producing events.
  • Ability to work flexibly, show initiative, and work well in a team.
  • Experience leading on logistics, meeting scheduling, record keeping, travel administration, and supporting the project’s public profile (including updating the website and social media).
