Job description

Fixed term for 6 months from date of appointment.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team at the heart of Sandwell Council, in a role that supports the political leadership of the Council to bring about positive change for our citizens and represent Sandwell across the region and nationally.

You will provide a high standard of administrative support to members of the Cabinet, proactively anticipating their needs and actions and working with initiative and autonomy.

The main duties include:

  • Diary management and gatekeeping
  • Being a principle point of contact
  • Convening and attending briefings
  • Researching and compiling information and drafting correspondence minutes and other documents to the required standard.

Applicants should have experience of:

  • Administrative support in a complex environment as well as excellent organisational, written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The confidence to act independently with minimal supervision and a commitment to modelling the values and behaviours of the Council.
  • An understanding of the workings of a local authority is desirable.
  • English/Maths to GCSE or equivalent.

You will be based in Oldbury Council House. Whilst agile and flexible working is supported, the nature of the role means that you will be expected to attend the office at least two days a week. There may also be a requirement to work occasional evenings and weekends.

Hours:

37 hours per week
