Job Overview

This post is an internal secondment until // to meet the needs of the service.

We have an excellent opportunity within our friendly department for an enthusiastic and motivated Pharmacy Technician to join our Vaccination & Immunisation Service.

If you have the ability to work using your own initiative, have good communication skills, a high level of accuracy and are keen to develop your skills, this is the job for you!

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

  • Advises practice on cold-chain and governance procedures
  • Analysing patient prescribing data, using audit tools, and discussing results with prescribers
  • Ensures robust repeat prescribing systems are in place and implemented; assists in staff training according to documented protocols
  • Provides support to the Locality Lead Medicines Management in practice medicines management meetings
  • Supports Medicines Management developments in the locality, acting as the first point of contact for issues like fridge failures
  • Obtains drug, therapeutic, and pharmaceutical information
  • Provides training for new staff and pharmacy students, including competency sign-off
  • Responsible for vaccine rooms within local vaccination centres, ensuring cold-chain governance and compliance
