An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and committed administration assistant to support the Specialist Midwives team at Colchester Hospital. You will need excellent IT skills and be able to communicate effectively with the general public.
You will be expected to work independently and as part of the maternity team at Colchester. The position is fixed term/secondment until 31st December 2025, 15 hours per week.
The team works hard to provide antenatal and postnatal care to all those booking their pregnancies within our service. Full training will be provided. The role will include processing new maternity referrals, answering phones and email queries, supporting specialist midwives and general office duties.

A large part of this role is to undertake administration dealing with pregnancy referrals and ensuring correct processes are undertaken to book women in to the midwifery service. Ensuring any urgent referrals/messages are dealt with accordingly in a timely manner. Using the Portal system confirm patients details and update when applicable. If 'double registrations' are established, flag up on the system and report to Health Records.To undertake photocopying and circulation of agendas, minutes, procedures, reports, letters, forms and other documentation for our Midwifery team as instructedTo receive telephone calls from patients, GPs, Health Visitors, Midwives, other hospitals and assess their urgency for contacting the Community and Team Midwives and deal with non- urgent calls accordingly.As instructed update daily the "on call" boards on wards/department. Update the off duty lists on wards/departments
