Job description

Job Overview

The Assistant Music Administration Manager, known internally as Assistant Music Schools Manager, will assist with the smooth running of the Music Schools through effective management and support of key administrative tasks. The post holder will be primarily responsible for concerts, competitions, masterclasses, and arrangements for music exams. They will provide direct assistance to the Music Schools Manager and be part of a seven-person team, reporting directly to the Manager. This team includes three administrators and three evening stewards.

Music at Eton College is proud of the high-quality musical education we provide, seeing music as a key part of our boys’ education. We offer opportunities across a wide range of genres for all boys, regardless of experience. The department boasts excellent facilities, numerous performance opportunities, and a team of 80 Visiting Music Teachers teaching 1250 lessons weekly. The College hosts multiple choirs and ensembles, with extensive facilities including concert halls, a recording studio, music technology suites, and pipe organs in its chapels.

Main Duties

  1. Supporting Visiting Music Teachers (VMTs): Overseeing timetables, assisting with queries, supporting induction, providing basic IT support, and handling other inquiries.
  2. Supporting Maestro System Usage: Maintaining data, supporting users, exploring new applications for the system.
  3. Ensemble and Event Management: Maintaining event details, communicating with members, expanding Maestro use.
  4. Concerts, Competitions, and Masterclasses Coordination: Liaising with staff and external guests, managing logistics, supervising event setup, and exploring AI automation opportunities.
  5. Building Maintenance and Room Management: Ensuring tidiness, equipment, and furnishings are maintained.
  6. Exam Organization: Booking exam dates, collecting entries, arranging timetables, and distributing results.
  7. Supporting the Music Schools Manager: Reporting, facilities upkeep, equipment management, and digital integration ideas.
  8. General Employee Expectations: Safeguarding, confidentiality, and promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion.

Working Pattern

The role is 32.5 hours/week, Monday to Friday, 9 am to 4:30 pm, with one hour unpaid lunch. It involves onsite work for 38 weeks/year, with holiday entitlement of 5.6 weeks, to be used during school holidays. Extra hours may be required during busy periods.
