Job overview

The post holder will assist in delivering comprehensive administrative support to medical and nursing staff within the speciality. Responsibilities include audio typing/word processing, maintaining and updating Excel databases, and handling document distribution, filing, and scanning. The role also involves answering telephone enquiries and supporting the coordination of waiting lists. The post holder may be required to cover the workload of other members of the Neurology administration team as needed.

Main duties of the job

The main duties include audio typing/word processing, maintaining and updating an Excel database, monitoring and responding to emails in the headache inbox, and managing document filing and scanning. The role requires answering telephone enquiries, assisting with waiting list coordination, and covering team workload when necessary.

The post holder will respond to internal and external telephone queries from staff, patients, and others, handling general patient enquiries professionally.

Applicants should have a good standard of education, including GCSEs or equivalent, particularly in English. Secretarial or clerical experience, proficiency in touch typing, and familiarity with computerised systems/software are essential.

The role requires exercising judgment when dealing with queries, possibly locating and tracking case notes, and supporting waiting list management.

The post holder must prioritize and plan their workload effectively, ensuring timely request and provision of patient information, and managing incoming and outgoing correspondence efficiently.
