Job summary

Herefordshire Council is seeking an Administration Assistant to support the Opening Horizons project within the Herefordshire Museums & Galleries team. The role involves providing administrative and financial support, coordinating artists and schools, and managing bookings to ensure timely delivery.

The successful candidate will be highly organised, proactive, with strong IT and Microsoft Office skills, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.

Salary: HC04£26,016 - £26,847 pro rata (£5,203 £5,369 per annum)

Contract: Fixed term until 31/07/2028

The Role

We are looking for an organised and enthusiastic Administration Assistant to join the Herefordshire Museums & Galleries team to work on our Opening Horizons project. This is an exciting opportunity to support a vibrant museum service, helping to ensure the smooth delivery of administrative, financial and operational activities across the project.

Working closely with museum staff, schools, contractors and external partners, you will play a key role in supporting the project.

What will you be doing?

You will provide administrative and financial support to the Herefordshire Museums & Galleries and Opening Horizons teams, helping to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the project. This will include coordinating artists/schools, maintaining records and supporting the projects.

You will manage bookings for schools, facilitators and resources, liaising with museum staff, schools and contractors to ensure activities are delivered successfully and on time.

About You

We are looking for someone who is highly organised, proactive and able to manage a varied workload. You will enjoy working with people, have excellent attention to detail and be confident using IT systems and Microsoft Office applications.

You will have:

  • Experience working in an administrative role.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise multiple tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office and other IT systems.
  • The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • A positive and flexible approach to problem‑solving and meeting deadlines.

An interest in museums, heritage, arts or culture would be advantageous.
