Job description

Our client, HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS), is an agency of the Ministry of Justice that provides administrative support for the legal system across England and Wales, ensuring justice for everyone.

Our justice system defends fundamental rights and freedoms, serving all individuals who rely on it—from vulnerable populations and families in crisis to claimants and businesses. HMCTS is responsible for administering an accessible and efficient justice system.

We are currently seeking a temporary administrative officer for a full-time role until September 2025, with potential for extension based on business needs. The position is based at our office located at GU1 4PS, working Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, at a pay rate of £12.53 per hour, paid weekly.

The role involves supporting administrative tasks related to family and civil courts, including:

  1. Preparing papers and files for court, tribunals, hearings, and meetings.
  2. Creating and updating records on the in-house computer system and data input.
  3. Managing post opening and dispatch.
  4. Communicating via email, letters, face-to-face, and telephone.
  5. Drafting standard letters, correspondence, minutes, notes, reports, and submissions following guidelines.
  6. Ensuring compliance and quality standards in administration documentation.
  7. Performing ad hoc administrative tasks such as photocopying, scanning, and filing.

Applicants should have 12-18 months of administrative experience in a workplace setting. The successful candidate will be subject to a Basic DBS check and references.
