Job summary

247 Lifeline seeks a highly organised Medical Records Clerk to support the management, maintenance and processing of patient records. The role focuses on accuracy, confidentiality and ready access for authorised healthcare professionals.

Key duties include filing, scanning, data entry and updating electronic systems, while ensuring compliance with NHS, GDPR and information governance procedures. You will work with clinicians and administrative teams to keep records complete and secure.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a medical records, healthcare administration or clerical role is desirable.
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good IT skills and confidence using electronic record systems.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Previous experience within a healthcare environment is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update patient medical records accurately and efficiently.
  • File, scan and retrieve medical documentation and patient information.
  • Ensure patient records are complete, organised and up to date.
  • Process requests for medical records in line with organisational procedures.
  • Enter and update patient information on electronic systems.
  • Ensure confidentiality and data protection requirements are strictly followed.
  • Liaise with healthcare professionals, administrative teams and other relevant departments.
  • Identify missing or incomplete information and follow up where necessary.
  • Assist with transferring paper records to electronic systems.
  • Handle sensitive patient information professionally and securely.
  • Support general administrative duties within the medical records department.
  • Follow relevant NHS, GDPR, confidentiality and information governance procedures.
